Childbirth

We believe in the natural course of childbirth. We support this process by staying with you from the active phase (at approximately 5 cm dilated) of the delivery. Research has shown that through continuous supervision, the delivery goes more smoothly and there is less need to transfer to the gynaecologist.

We will constantly check the health of you and your baby during delivery. If we consider it necessary, we will consult with the gynaecologist or refer you to the gynaecologist.

During the check-ups during your pregnancy, we will spend extensive time discussing the delivery. It is possible to make a birth plan in which you and your partner describe your wishes regarding the birth.

The place where you want to give birth is the choice of you and your partner. You can choose to give birth at home or to give birth in the hospital. Also if you opt for a delivery in the hospital, we will guide you during the delivery.

We work with various hospitals. The hospitals where you can give birth are the Franciscus Gasthuis (Rotterdam), the Sophia Birth Center at the Erasmus Medical Center (Rotterdam), the Ikazia Hospital (Rotterdam), the Maasstad Hospital (Rotterdam), the Reinier De Graaf Gasthuis (Delft) or the IJsselland hospital (Capelle a/d IJssel). Unfortunately, since July 2022 it is no longer possible to give birth in the Vlietland hospital (Schiedam).
