Week 4

Yes, a positive pregnancy test, congratulations! As soon as you have a positive pregnancy test, you can register with us without a referral from a general practitioner. After your registration we will contact you as soon as possible and schedule the first ultrasound appointment with you. Did you know that you can choose at what gestational age you want to have this first ultrasound? We understand that you are very curious about how far along you are and whether everything looks good. Our advice is to schedule this ultrasound around 6 – 7 weeks of the pregnancy. Before this term it can be difficult to tell whether everything looks good, because we cannot yet observe fetal heart activity before this term. But if you can’t wait and want an ultrasound sooner, the assistant will schedule it together with you.

It is also good to know that from now on you can contact us with all your questions! So any questions? Call the assistant or email us. If you have not yet started taking folic acid and vitamin D, it is good to start as soon as possible. If you use medication, let us know, so that we can think along with you whether it is wise to continue taking it or to stop it temporarily. You will also receive an extensive email from us with information about nutrition, lifestyle and tests that you can do during your pregnancy. See more information about nutritional advice here.

Your baby consists of a clump of cells that will implant itself in your uterine wall. This can cause implantation bleeding and you may lose a small amount of blood. So this can’t hurt. Are you worried? Then give us a call!
