Week 13

In this week the 13 weeks ultrasound will take place. This ultrasound is also offered at our practice by an ultrasound technician who specializes in making this medical ultrasound. Your baby will be checked from head to toe to see if all organs and structures are developing properly. This ultrasound takes a little longer, approximately 30 – 45 minutes. The request is not to bring children under the age of 12 to this ultrasound, because the sonographer must be able to concentrate well. Unfortunately, with this test it is not possible to tell you the gender of the baby, because the 13-week ultrasound is a medical examination and is not intended as a gender ultrasound, in addition, at 13 weeks it is not yet entirely certain what the gender is. Read more information about the 13-week ultrasound here. If you are very curious, you can schedule a gender ultrasound with us from 15 weeks (for a fee, because unfortunately the insurance does not reimburse this ultrasound)!

Your baby is the size of a peach this week. Your baby is working hard to further develop the digestive tract. Your baby now produces urine and can also swallow.
