Six weeks after giving birth, it is time for the follow-up at the practice. During this check-up, you will be asked how you experienced the pregnancy, delivery and postpartum period. The midwife also discusses your mental and physical condition at that moment. Topics that are discussed: blood loss after childbirth, your period, fertility, contraception, recovery of stitches and pelvic floor and abdominal muscles. The midwife can determine your iron level again and measure your blood pressure. The follow-up is mainly intended for you, but of course you can also ask for advice about nutrition (breastfeeding/ formula), sleep and any questions you have about your baby and parenting.
