Birth

We believe in the natural course of childbirth. We support this process by staying with you from the active phase (at approximately 5 cm dilation) of childbirth. Research has shown that continuous guidance makes childbirth go more smoothly and that fewer transfers to the gynaecologist are required.

It goes without saying that we will continuously monitor the health of you and your baby during childbirth. If we deem it necessary, we will consult with you or refer you to the gynaecologist.

During the check-ups during your pregnancy, we will spend a lot of time discussing childbirth. It is possible to draw up a birth plan in which you and your partner describe your wishes regarding childbirth.

The place where you want to give birth is your and your partner’s choice. You can choose to give birth at home or in hospital (outpatient). Even if you choose to give birth in hospital, we will guide you during childbirth.

We work with various hospitals. The hospitals where you can give birth are the Franciscus Gasthuis (Rotterdam), the Sophia Geboortecentrum in the Erasmus Medical Center (Rotterdam), the Ikazia hospital (Rotterdam), the Maasstad hospital (Rotterdam), the Reinier De Graaf Gasthuis (Delft) or the IJsselland hospital (Capelle a/d IJssel). Unfortunately, since July 2022 it is no longer possible to give birth in the Vlietland hospital (Schiedam).
