Who are we?

We see the pregnancy, giving birth, and feeding your baby as a natural process. Every woman is unique and does this in her own way. We are there to guide expectant parents in this process while we will monitor the health of mother and baby. Hereby we think it is important to get to know the parents and adjust the guidance to your wishes and needs.

Because we work on a small scale, we have all the space to provide this personal care. The birth of a child is an exciting time and there is a lot involved. That is why we offer more than standard obstetric practice and you can come to us for all the care services related to obstetrics.

We are all BIG registered and we are registered in the quality register of the KNOV (royal Dutch organization of midwifery). We are registered in the quality register of the BEN (professional association of ultrasound technicians). And we are authorized to prescribe contraception and to place and remove spirals and Implanons.

I followed the midwifery education at the Midwifery Academy in Amsterdam, where I graduated in 2015. I am very passionate about this beautiful profession and I enjoy contact with people from different cultures and with differnt backgrounds. It is special to see that whatever culture or background someone comes from, having a child is equally special for everyone.

After working at a number of practices in Amsterdam, I worked for a long time in a busy multicultural city practice in Rotterdam. Here I gained a lot of experience and I developed into a skilled and experienced obstetrician. During my studies I di dan internship in Zambia fort wo months is a small mission hospital. Here I learned to provide obstetric care with minimal resources. I also gained my love for carrying your baby in a sling. After graduating, I also followed a training to become a sling wear consultant at ‘die Trageschule’.

I am no wan expert by experience in being pregnant, giving birth to a child, feeding a child an carrying a child. I was allowed to become the mother of two beautiful childeren, a daughter Marietje and a son Tommie. I incorporate these experiences in my work as an obstetrician and I see it as a valuable addition to guiding a pregnant woman and her partner.

It has always been my dream to have my own practice where I can realize my ideas about perfect obstetric care. The birth of a child also includes the birth of two parents. There is so much more tot his than just pure basic obstetric care. That is why I am happy that we can offer this in our practice.
I look forward to meeting you, getting to know you and guiding you in this special journey to parenthood.

Ever since I was very young I already knew: ‘‘I wanted to become a midwife.’’ I have always seen obsetrics as something fascinating. Every woman carries her child and gives birth to her child in her own way. As a midwife you are the point of contact during this beautiful, but sometimes difficult, phase in someone’s life.

I was admitted to the Midwifery Academy Rotterdam and I completed this with great pleasure and enthusiasm. In 2016 I started working as a midwife in a busy multicultural city practice in Rotterdam. Here I gained a lot of experience in supervising (bath) births at home and at the Birth Center op Sophia. Becaus I see the process of birth as natrual, a bath birth is a great way to stimulate the natural course of birth.

My fascination fort he profession continue and so I started following the ultrasound training. I obtained my ultrasound diploma in 2018 and I am no wan experienced ultrasound technician. Not only do I work as an ultrasound technician in daily midwifery practice, but I also work as an ultrasound technician at the Erasmus Medical Centrer in the Generation R next research.

After having enjoyed working in a busy Rotterdam city practice for over four years, I am ready fort he next challange. Something I have always wanted to do, to start my own obstetric practice! By having sufficient time and attention while guidinig the pregnant woman and her partner I want to create confidence in the process of birth. That is why I think it is important that healthcare is on a small scale and personal. Sylvia and I have therefor chosen to start our own practice together in which small-scale and personal attention is central.

Time and time again, I think it is an honor to be able tob e present and to play a important role in one of the most special moments in the lift of a pregnant woman and her partner: becoming parents (again). I hope to meet you soon!

Midwifery runs in my family. My great-grandmother was a midwife, my mother is a midwife and since 2015 my dream has come true and I myself graduated as a midwife at the Midwifery Academy in Rotterdam.

After my studies I immediately started working for practices in Delft and Pijnacker. After working at different types of practices of different sizes, I have come to the conclusion that I prefer to work client-oriented, so I like to take the time for clients, get to know them well and provide the best possible personal care. I love working with pregnant women during their pregnancy, delivery and postpartum period.

In addition to my work as a midwife, I give courses in preparation for childbirth and I helped develop and provide first aid and resuscitation for expats.
I am originally from England and I speak English fluently. When I was twelve I came to the Netherlands, learned the language and completed my education.
I am also a mother of 2 children. In 2018 my son James was born and in 2020 my daughter Eliana. Both were in-home bath births. I have experienced this as very pleasant and I therefore like to supervise bath deliveries. In my spare time I love to carry my children in a sling.

I could not have imagined a better profession than a midwife. It is such a rewarding profession. With so many clients you can be part of one of the most beautiful moments of their lives. I hope to be able to share these beautiful moments with you.

From November 2020 I enjoy working as a midwife in the team of Verloskundig Centrum Schiedam. In July 2020 I graduated as a midwife at the Midwifery Academy in Rotterdam. After my studies, I immediately started working at a midwifery practice in the Westland region.

Before I started studying midwifery, I completed my Psychology degree in Leiden. Here I discovered my passion for personal guidance and care for healthy people. What I find important as a midwife is the attention for the natural birth process. Offering personal care to the pregnant woman and her partner during this special period is the best thing there is! No pregnancy, delivery or maternity bed is the same and that makes every working day unique.

Cause of my experience working as a midwife at different midwifery practices, I discovered that I prefer to work in a small-scale practice. At the Midwifery Center Schiedam I feel completely at home, here I can take the time to get to know each other and provide the care that suits the pregnant woman and her partner.

During my midwifery education I worked at the Sophia Birth Center. Here I gained my experience in guiding bath births.

I think it’s important that pregnant women and her partner can discuss everything and just be themselves. It is my goal to ensure that both parents have a good experience with their pregnancy, delivery and maternity period.

Being part of this special period in your pregnancy, birth and parenthood remains special! I look forward to getting to know you soon!
