My name is Eva van der Struis-Groen, and I live with my husband and dachshund.<\/p>\n
Since high school, I knew I wanted to be a midwife. I graduated in Rotterdam in 2017. I also gained most of my work experience in the Rotterdam area.<\/p>\n
The best thing about being a midwife is being present at special moments: hearing the first heartbeat of expectant parents, meeting the baby during labor, and sometimes seeing older children become siblings. Combined with the unexpected aspect of a shift (you never know when you’ll be attending a birth), this makes the work both enjoyable and challenging. The combination of the social aspect and medical care appeals to me.<\/p>\n
I enjoy tailoring care to the pregnant woman as best as possible. Everyone is different and needs different information and care. I believe it’s important to take sufficient time for this. I love it when a pregnant woman finds her strength and can look back fondly on her pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period.<\/p>\n
I also enjoy developing my skills within the profession: I’m also a basic sonographer, I insert IUDs, and you can find me at the centering pregnancy (which is highly recommended, so much fun \ud83d\ude09 ).<\/p>\n
In my free time, I enjoy long walks with the dog, sports (fitness and running), and spending time with family and friends.<\/p>\n
